Doctors watch how ventilator settings affect brain injury recovery

NCT ID NCT04459884

Summary

This study observed how doctors in intensive care units set ventilators for patients with serious brain injuries. Researchers tracked over 2,200 patients to see if different ventilator settings were linked to better or worse recovery six months later. The goal was to gather information to help guide future care, as there is a conflict between protecting the lungs and protecting the injured brain.
