New study: which strength training boosts soccer performance best?

NCT ID NCT07447258

First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looked at two ways of strength training for young soccer players: one that tracks how fast they move (velocity-based) and one that trains until they can't do another rep (traditional). Twenty-four male players aged 15-17 trained twice a week for six weeks. The goal was to see if velocity-based training could improve performance and muscle growth as well as traditional training, but with less total work.
