Varicose vein laser treatment moves out of the OR

NCT ID NCT07629843

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study will test a new way to treat varicose veins using a 1940nm laser, performed outside the operating room under local anesthesia. Researchers want to see how satisfied patients are with the procedure and check its safety and effectiveness. About 155 adults with saphenous vein issues will take part, and they will fill out a questionnaire to rate their experience.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
1940nm endovenous laser
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that treating varicose veins with a laser outside the operating room is safe and satisfying for patients, potentially making the procedure more convenient.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study with no control group, so results may not prove the treatment is better than standard care. It is also early-stage and small (155 participants), so findings may not apply to everyone.
