Summary

This study tests whether a program of counselling and nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) can help e-cigarette users quit vaping. 180 regular vapers will be randomly assigned to receive either counselling alone or counselling plus NRT. Researchers will track self-reported quitting rates over 12 months to see which approach works better.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and counselling

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide an evidence-based approach to help e-cigarette users quit vaping.

What could go wrong

This is a small pilot study, so results may not apply to everyone. NRT is not approved for vaping cessation, and the study is still early.
