Spinal surgery breakthrough? powder may slash infection risk
NCT ID NCT03839914
First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether placing vancomycin powder directly into the wound during spinal surgery can prevent infections in high-risk patients (e.g., those with spinal deformities or tumors). About 76 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either the powder plus standard care, or standard care alone. The goal is to see if this simple addition reduces surgical site infections without causing side effects.
