Antibiotic trial probes Gut's role in MS brain inflammation

NCT ID NCT05539729

Summary

This study aims to understand how the antibiotic vancomycin affects the community of bacteria in the gut and the immune system in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). Researchers will give vancomycin to 12 newly diagnosed, untreated MS patients and track changes in their gut bacteria, blood markers, and brain scans over 6 weeks. The goal is to learn more about the connection between the gut and brain inflammation in MS, not to treat the disease directly.
