Zapping the vagus nerve: a new hope for lupus fatigue?
NCT ID NCT05315739
Summary
This study investigated whether a non-invasive device that stimulates a nerve in the neck (the vagus nerve) could help reduce the severe fatigue often experienced by people with lupus (SLE). 75 participants with lupus, fatigue, and signs of nervous system issues were randomly assigned to use either the real stimulation device or a fake 'sham' device. Researchers measured changes in fatigue, overall disease activity, quality of life, and immune system function to see if the treatment was helpful.
