Can a zap to the ear kickstart motivation in depression?
NCT ID NCT07198100
Summary
This study is investigating whether a gentle, non-invasive stimulation of a nerve in the ear can improve motivation and mood in people with depression. Researchers will recruit 120 people, half with depression and half without, to see if the stimulation works and if a person's insulin sensitivity (how well their body uses sugar) influences the results. The goal is to better understand the link between metabolism, brain function, and depression symptoms like lack of motivation.
