Scientists study vaginal microbiome to catch ovarian cancer sooner

NCT ID NCT06962059

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at the bacteria and natural chemicals in the vagina to see if they can help find ovarian cancer early. Healthy volunteers (people with ovaries but no cancer or genetic risk) will provide vaginal swabs and stool samples. Their samples will be compared to those from people with higher cancer risk or ovarian cancer. The goal is to build a model that predicts cancer risk, not to test any treatment.
