C-Section incision showdown: which cut heals better?

NCT ID NCT06620432

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares two types of uterine incisions (high vs low) during a first cesarean section to see which leads to fewer scar defects. 168 pregnant women having their first C-section will be randomly assigned to one of four groups, combining incision type with a stitching technique. Participants will have an ultrasound 6-16 weeks after surgery to check for defects in the uterine wall.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could help doctors choose the best incision type to reduce uterine scar defects after a first C-section.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (168 participants) comparing surgical techniques, not testing a new drug. Results may not apply to all women or change practice immediately.
