Light therapy showdown: can UVB beat topical creams for eczema?

NCT ID NCT05704205

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding narrowband UVB phototherapy (a type of light treatment) to standard topical creams helps adults with moderate eczema more than using creams alone. About 316 adults whose eczema is not well controlled by creams will be randomly assigned to receive either 8-16 weeks of UVB plus optimized topical therapy, or optimized topical therapy alone. The main goal is to see how many patients achieve at least a 50% reduction in eczema severity after 3 months.
