First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested the safety and skin-friendliness of new adhesive baseplates for the UNEEG Episight recorder, a device that records brain waves. Thirty-four healthy adults wore different baseplates behind their ears for about 17-18 days each. Researchers measured skin health and checked for any skin reactions to see if the adhesives are safe for repeated use.

Baseplates with biocompatible adhesives (device)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a more comfortable and reliable way to attach EEG recorders for long-term brain monitoring.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study in healthy people, so results may not apply to patients. Skin reactions or discomfort from the adhesives are possible.
