Scientists probe TMS brain effects to tackle addiction

NCT ID NCT03394066

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looks at how transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) changes brain activity in healthy adults. TMS uses magnetic pulses to stimulate the brain and is already approved for depression. Researchers want to understand these effects better to design treatments for drug addiction. About 70 healthy, right-handed adults aged 18-60 who do not use drugs will have brain scans with and without TMS.
