Summary
This study looked at how certain immune cells (antigen-presenting cells) behave in people with sepsis, a life-threatening response to infection. Researchers collected extra blood samples from 119 participants, including sepsis patients, critically ill patients without sepsis, and healthy volunteers. The goal was to understand why sepsis can weaken the immune system and lead to further infections, but no new treatment was tested.
