New study tracks recovery in real time using mobile surveys

NCT ID NCT07588516

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study will observe 60 adults in residential therapeutic communities in Mexico to understand how recovery from substance use unfolds over time. Participants will answer quick mobile surveys several times a day about cravings, mood, and social interactions for 8 to 12 weeks. The goal is to identify patterns that predict treatment success or relapse, which could help improve future care.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could help improve treatment programs for substance use by identifying key moments when people are at risk of relapse.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It is small (60 people) and only in Mexico, so findings may not apply elsewhere.
