First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Apr 22, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at how the time it takes for a patient to exhale affects lung function in adults with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) who are on a ventilator. Researchers will use a special imaging technique called EIT to measure how air and blood flow are distributed in the lungs. The goal is to better understand the role of the exhalation phase in ventilator settings, which is often ignored. The study involves 60 participants and is currently recruiting.
