Blood analysis aims to unlock sepsis mysteries

NCT ID NCT03788772

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looked at how certain immune cells, called antigen-presenting cells, work in people with sepsis, a severe response to infection. Researchers collected extra blood samples from 119 participants, including sepsis patients and healthy volunteers, to understand why some patients get more infections. The goal was to learn more about the body's immune response, not to test a new treatment.
