Can a blister on the arm help solve a deadly lung condition?

NCT ID NCT05600062

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a drug called Racecadotril can reduce fluid leakage in skin blisters. The blisters are a safe model for what happens in the lungs of patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), a severe lung injury with no effective treatments. Healthy volunteers will receive either the drug or a placebo, and researchers will measure blister fluid and inflammation. The goal is to gather early evidence on whether this drug might one day help ARDS patients.
