Heart mapping study aims to solve why half of AFib ablations fail
NCT ID NCT07047235
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study looks at why some people with persistent atrial fibrillation (AFib) continue to have heart rhythm problems even after a standard ablation procedure. Researchers will create detailed 3D maps of the heart's electrical activity and scar tissue in 160 adults having their first ablation. If AFib returns, a second targeted ablation will be offered. The goal is to learn which patients need extra treatment and to improve long-term success rates.
