Can a quick ultrasound of leg veins guide trauma care?

NCT ID NCT07264374

First seen Dec 08, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at whether ultrasound measurements of the femoral or jugular vein collapse can help doctors assess fluid loss in trauma patients with shock, compared to the standard inferior vena cava measurement. About 50 adults with hypovolemic shock will be scanned before and after fluid replacement. The goal is to find a simpler, faster way to guide resuscitation in the emergency department.
