Handheld ultrasound could spare thousands of women from unneeded breast biopsies
NCT ID NCT07407153
First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests whether a simple handheld ultrasound can help doctors decide which breast lumps are likely harmless and which need further testing. About 600 women in Indonesia with a breast lump found during a physical exam will get an ultrasound. The goal is to see if this approach can safely reduce the number of mammograms and biopsies needed, making care faster and less stressful.
