Ultrasound may help monitor shoulder recovery in oral cancer survivors

NCT ID NCT07166575

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jul 22, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study will use ultrasound to measure changes in a shoulder muscle (upper trapezius) in 10 oral cancer patients who had neck surgery and physical therapy. The goal is to see if ultrasound can track muscle recovery and relate it to how well patients can move their arm. It is an observational study, not testing a new treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this study could show that ultrasound is a useful tool for tracking muscle recovery in oral cancer patients after neck surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early observational study with only 10 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. It does not test a treatment.
