New nerve block aims to ease pain after minimally invasive heart surgery

NCT ID NCT05904912

Summary

This study tested whether a targeted nerve block, guided by ultrasound, could help manage pain in patients undergoing a minimally invasive heart valve replacement (TAVI). Researchers compared pain levels and the need for strong painkillers in 40 patients who either received the nerve block or standard care. The goal was to see if this approach could provide better pain relief with fewer side effects after the procedure.
