Ultrasound may reveal hidden muscle strength
NCT ID NCT07647393
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This observational study will examine whether ultrasound images of muscles can predict strength in 300 healthy adults aged 18 to 89. Participants will have ultrasound scans of their thigh and forearm muscles, plus strength tests and questionnaires. The goal is to find simple, non-invasive ways to assess muscle health.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple, non-invasive way to assess muscle strength using ultrasound, helping monitor muscle health in various populations.
What could go wrong
This is an early observational study, not testing a treatment. It may not find strong links between ultrasound measures and strength, limiting its practical use.
