New scan aims to see inside tumors during radiation

NCT ID NCT07436364

Summary

This small, early-stage study is testing whether a special type of ultrasound scan, called contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), can help doctors better monitor how soft tissue sarcoma responds to radiation treatment given before surgery. The study will enroll about 10 adults with sarcoma who are scheduled for this type of pre-surgical radiation. Researchers will perform the special ultrasound scan three times during treatment to see if it can accurately show changes in the tumor's blood supply and internal pressure, which might predict how well the radiation is working.
