New ultrasound aims to see inside the airway like never before
NCT ID NCT07406061
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will test a new ultrasound device that creates 4D images of the upper airway in real time. Researchers will scan the neck and jaw area of 100 healthy adults to measure airway size. The goal is to see if this technology can overcome current limits, like imaging behind bone or air-filled spaces.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Ultrasonography
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to better real-time imaging of the airway, helping doctors manage breathing tubes or diagnose airway problems.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study in healthy volunteers. The new imaging method may not work as hoped, and results may not apply to patients with airway diseases.
