Sugar-Water shots could ease back pain for EDS patients

NCT ID NCT05279937

First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests if injecting a sugar-water solution (dextrose prolotherapy) into the lower back, guided by ultrasound, can safely reduce chronic low back pain in people with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS). About 40 adults aged 18-75 with hEDS and long-term low back pain will receive the injections. The goal is to see if this treatment improves pain and function, and reduces the need for other medical visits or procedures.
