Sound waves for sight: early trial tests ultrasound to restore vision

NCT ID NCT05914233

Summary

This early study is testing whether a wearable, non-invasive ultrasound device can safely stimulate nerve cells in the retina to help restore vision in people with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) or retinitis pigmentosa (RP). The goal is to develop a safer alternative to invasive surgical methods. Five participants will receive stimulation and report what they see and feel to help researchers understand the device's safety and potential effects.
