Leg scans may spot repeat blood clots in lungs
NCT ID NCT05413317
First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looked at whether using a leg vein ultrasound can improve how doctors diagnose a repeat pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in the lung). About 115 adults with symptoms of a possible recurrence were enrolled. The goal was to see if adding the ultrasound to standard tests (like D-dimer and chest scans) helps confirm or rule out a new clot. Results could lead to a more accurate and simpler diagnostic approach.
