NCT ID NCT06465121

First seen Feb 24, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tests whether using ultrasound to guide nurses can improve the success rate of placing IVs in children whose veins are hard to see or feel. About 120 children aged 1 month to 18 years with difficult veins will be randomly assigned to get an IV placed either by the usual method (looking and feeling) or with ultrasound help. The goal is to see if ultrasound leads to more first-attempt successes and less pain.
