Which tape keeps IVs in place? small study tests three methods

NCT ID NCT05948878

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested three different taping methods for securing IV catheters to see which one resists being pulled out the best. Thirty-two healthy volunteers had IV catheters taped on their arms (not inserted into the skin) and a device measured how much force it took to dislodge them. The goal was to find a better way to keep IVs in place and reduce complications.
