Can a quick scan save lives? new test aims to speed up diagnosis for elderly struggling to breathe
NCT ID NCT06807983
Summary
This study is testing if using a bedside ultrasound machine can help emergency doctors quickly and correctly figure out what's causing sudden, severe shortness of breath in people over 65. Researchers will compare the usual care to a new approach where doctors use ultrasound on the heart and lungs right away. The goal is to see if this faster diagnosis leads to better, more accurate treatment decisions and shorter hospital stays.
