Can a simple scan prevent unnecessary blood thinner treatment?

NCT ID NCT05300139

Summary

This study tested if ultrasound scans can accurately tell if a leg blood clot is a dangerous new one or just an old scar. Researchers followed 18 patients with suspected repeat clots, checking their ultrasounds over 3 months while they were on blood thinners. The goal was to see if a clot's appearance staying the same means it's not a new problem, which could help doctors avoid over-diagnosis and unnecessary treatment.
