No-Needle celiac monitoring: ultrasound and blood test may replace painful biopsies
NCT ID NCT07453589
First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a non-invasive small bowel ultrasound combined with a blood test for tissue transglutaminase (tTG) antibodies can accurately measure celiac disease activity. Researchers will enroll 140 people aged 2 and older, including newly diagnosed patients, those on a gluten-free diet, and healthy controls. The goal is to see if these tests can predict disease severity and track response to diet, potentially reducing the need for invasive duodenal biopsies.
