NCT ID NCT07627243

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This trial tests a short, 5-session therapy called IPT-A-SCI for children and teens aged 8-18 who have suicidal thoughts or behaviors. The therapy combines interpersonal psychotherapy with safety planning. Researchers want to see if it reduces suicidal thoughts and if the effects last three months after treatment ends. About 120 participants will complete questionnaires at several points, and their parents will also fill out surveys.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Ultra-brief interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT-A-SCI) combined with safety planning
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a quick, effective therapy option to reduce suicidal thoughts and behaviors in young people.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with no control group, so results may not be conclusive. The therapy is very brief, which may not be enough for some participants.
