First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tested whether a one-hour crisis response planning session works better than standard crisis care for adults with current suicidal thoughts. 191 participants were randomly assigned to one of the two approaches, and researchers tracked changes in brain activity, mood, and suicide risk over six months. The goal was to understand how the brain responds to this brief intervention and whether it leads to lasting improvements.
