Cholesterol pill tested as new weapon against bowel disease flares

NCT ID NCT05567068

Summary

This study tested whether adding a common cholesterol-lowering drug (atorvastatin) to standard mesalamine treatment could better control ulcerative colitis. It involved 54 adults with mild-to-moderate disease who were not on strong immunosuppressants. Researchers measured if the combination improved patients' quality of life and reduced signs of gut inflammation.
