Hidden gut damage could predict future flares in colitis patients
NCT ID NCT07188727
Summary
This study looked back at the medical records of 159 people with ulcerative colitis (UC) who were on newer, advanced medications. Researchers wanted to see if finding microscopic inflammation in colon tissue biopsies, even when the colon looks mostly okay during a scope exam, could help predict who might need more treatment, hospitalization, or surgery later on. The goal is to help doctors decide if they should adjust treatment based on these hidden signs of disease.
