Scientists test 'Allergy Shot' for diabetes to stop Body's Self-Attack

NCT ID NCT04590872

Summary

This early-stage study is testing the safety of a personalized vaccine for adults recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. The vaccine is made from a patient's own immune cells and a piece of a pancreas protein. The goal is to teach the immune system to stop attacking the body's insulin-producing cells, potentially helping them recover. This small pilot trial will enroll 6 participants to check for side effects and see if making the vaccine is practical.
