Race against time: can drug stop diabetes before it starts?
NCT ID NCT04291703
Summary
This study tested whether a low-dose immune therapy called ATG could delay or prevent the onset of type 1 diabetes in children and young adults at high risk. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either ATG or a placebo and were followed for several years. The trial aimed to see if the treatment could buy more time before insulin dependence became necessary.
