Race to stop bleeding in kids: major trial tests lifesaving drug

NCT ID NCT04387305

Summary

This large study aims to find out if a drug called tranexamic acid (TXA), which helps stop bleeding, improves recovery and quality of life for children under 18 with severe, bleeding injuries to their brain or torso. It will compare two different doses of TXA against a placebo in up to 2000 children across 40 hospitals. The goal is to control the bleeding and limit damage from these traumatic injuries, which are a leading cause of death and disability in kids.
