Clotting drug tested to speed healing after breast cancer surgery

NCT ID NCT05807074

Summary

This study tested whether applying a drug called tranexamic acid (TXA) directly to the surgical site could reduce common complications like bleeding and fluid buildup after breast reconstruction surgery following a mastectomy. Each participant acted as their own control, with the drug applied to one breast and a saline solution to the other. The goal was to see if this topical application could improve recovery and reduce issues that might delay further cancer treatment.
