First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study follows 1,500 twins aged 15 to 44 over five years to learn how metabolic syndrome and related conditions like fatty liver disease, heart problems, and diabetes start and progress. Researchers will track changes in the liver and other organs, and look at how genes, environment, and gut bacteria affect these conditions. The goal is to better understand why some people develop these diseases while others don't.
