Tutoring trial aims to keep 1000 ivorian teens in school
NCT ID NCT07486778
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether peer or teacher tutoring can help students in rural Côte d'Ivoire pass exams and stay in school. About 1000 adolescents will be split into groups: some get tutoring from older students, some from teachers, and some get no extra help. The goal is to see if tutoring boosts exam scores and school enrollment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
peer tutoring and teacher tutoring
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that low-cost tutoring programs help more students pass exams and stay in school, potentially improving education and job prospects in low-income regions.
What could go wrong
This is a behavioral study, not a medical trial. Results may vary by region or school, and tutoring may not overcome broader economic or social barriers to school attendance.
