Brain scans probe why some trust too much, others too little
NCT ID NCT07434037
Summary
This study aims to understand how people with intellectual disabilities, specifically Down syndrome and Fragile X syndrome, decide who to trust. Researchers will use computer tasks, eye-tracking, and brain scans (MRI) to compare how 112 participants from these groups and typical control groups process social information. The goal is to learn why individuals with these conditions often show opposite social behaviors—being overly trusting or socially anxious—to better support their social safety and well-being.
