Vitiligo gene study seeks clues to skin pigment loss

NCT ID NCT07232238

First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looks at how a specific gene (TRPM2) and an inflammation-related protein (NLRP3) are linked in people with vitiligo, a condition that causes white patches on the skin. Researchers will compare blood samples from 60 adults with vitiligo and healthy volunteers to see if certain gene changes affect inflammation levels. The goal is to better understand what causes vitiligo, not to test a new treatment.
