One pill to tackle two heart risks: triple combo tested
NCT ID NCT03860220
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This completed Phase 4 trial tested a single pill containing three medicines (telmisartan, amlodipine, and rosuvastatin) in 252 Korean adults with both high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Participants took either the triple pill or a two-drug pill for 8 weeks. The study measured changes in blood pressure and LDL cholesterol to see if the triple combination works better.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Telmisartan/Amlodipine/Rosuvastatin (triple combination pill)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a simpler once-daily pill to manage both high blood pressure and high cholesterol together.
What could go wrong
This is a completed Phase 4 trial, so results are already known. The main risk is that the triple pill may not be more effective or safer than existing two-drug combinations.
