Ancient herbal mouthwash takes on modern dental standard
NCT ID NCT07426393
First seen Mar 01, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tested whether a mouthwash made from Triphala, an Ayurvedic herbal blend, works as well as the standard chlorhexidine mouthwash for reducing plaque and gum inflammation (gingivitis). 220 adults with mild to moderate gingivitis used one of the two mouthwashes. The goal was to see if Triphala could be a gentler alternative with fewer side effects like taste issues and staining.
