First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests whether a daily supplement called tributyrin can slow memory decline in people with mild Alzheimer's disease. Over 12 weeks, 156 participants will take either tributyrin or a placebo, and researchers will measure changes in thinking skills, inflammation, and gut health. The goal is to see if boosting butyrate—a substance linked to gut health—can help protect the brain.
