Brain scans reveal how talk therapy rewires PTSD patients' joy circuits

NCT ID NCT06096740

First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026

Summary

This study looks at how a type of talk therapy called cognitive processing therapy (CPT) changes brain activity in people with PTSD who have trouble feeling pleasure. Researchers will use brain scans to see if therapy helps the brain's reward system work better. The goal is to understand how therapy improves emotional well-being, not to test a new treatment. About 120 adults with chronic PTSD will participate.
